LATISSTIMUS DORSI. Commonly known as LATS. Located on the posterior side of the torso, it is large wide sheet-like muscle shaped like a triangle.
The origin is on the lower half of the back and attaches down the spinous processes, the lumbar and sacral vertebrae, as well as the posterior third of the ilium.The lumbar and sacral area is a large aponeurosis
It inserts on the bottom of the bicipital groove on the front of the humerus.
It extends the shoulder, medially rotates the shoulder and ad ducts the shoulder
